Lung fibrosis, aka pulmonary fibrosis, is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. Once fibrosis occurs, it is irreversible, and most patients live about 3 to 5 years after diagnosis.
There is some evidence that overactivity of CB1 receptors can contribute to fibrosis, suggesting that dampening this activity could be a path for treatment. So, whilst cannabinoids can potentially induce lung inflammation, they could potentially also be used to reduce it – the right cannabinoids and the right ingestion method need to be taken into consideration.
